Informal Descriptive Information for Rio Puerco Data Sets This online 'data library' is intended to serve as the initial distribution site for the Rio Puerco legacy database. Within this website, we've attempted to provide a comprehensive listing of data sets that will be useful to Rio Puerco researchers. This library will continue to grow as additional data sets are obtained and processed. Please see the information below for more specific references to sources for the current data sets. The data sets were processed with Arc/Info version 7.1.1 software, and have all been projected into a common coordinate system:
Projection: UTM The majority of these data sets have been clipped to the Rio Puerco watershed basin boundary. This basin boundary was derived from a mosaic of 30 meter digital elevation models. In certain cases where polygon features extend beyond the basin boundary, two versions of the coverage have been created: one version that is clipped to the boundary, and a second which contains those polygons that extend outside of the boundary. The data sets contained in this online data library were gathered from a variety of sources. Most of the data were obtained from the New Mexico Resource Geographic Information System. Precipitation data were downloaded from the Oregon Climate Service ftp site. (For an overview of the PRISM model used to generate these precipitation estimates, please see the Oregon Climate Service PRISM Model page.) Statsgo soils data were downloaded from the USDA.
