Retake Photo

Retake of Schrader 1253/Leopold 1; 6-19-98. Looking southwest from approximately 50m southwest of location for Schrader 1254. Cabezon peak and some of the homes of San Luiz. Most striking change is the increase in the size and number of juniper trees and cholla in the foreground and the decrease in cottonwood trees along the Rio Puerco in the middle distance. Cottonwoods in Schrader's early photograph are rooted in the valley bottom, while presently only the tops of trees rooted in the arroyo bottom are visible. Large cottonwoods near homes in Leopold's view have been cut down at present.
