Leopold gives the following description of the vegetation in his view:
"...larger bush in foreground is Atriplex con, principal grass is Hilaria mutica
in bunches, Hilaria jamesii, Galleta 10-15% density, some amount of grama spec?,
small amount of Sporobolus airoides, very small amount of Artemisia spec?, very
small amount of Artemisia tridentata, snakeweed in foreground, very few 100 yr.
