Town of Cabezon as seen from the east side of the Rio Puerco in 1911.
Compare to T.W. Stanton 794.
Retakes of Lee 777/Stanton 794/
Leopold 4; 7/3/98. Cabezon Village as seen from the
south. Lee's earlier view appears to be with a telephoto lens(?). The most
striking feature of this view is the absence of any trace of the road seen in
Stanton and Lee's photographs. Although
Leopold's view is somewhat fuzzy, the road appears to
have been overgrown by 1946. A ground search confirmed that the road had been
obliterated at present. However, two gullies (located at the arrows in the
recent view and shown in detail in the photographs below) present today are very
linear and may have formed along a later road and/or cattle trails. It is not
possible to determine if these gullies are present in 1946.
Gully on left of retake.
